Freedom!

It is the most sought after word in this world today. We in America are truly blessed to live in a free country where our rights are protected and we have the freedom of expression, belief and the freedom to make choices. But there are millions of people who still live under repressive governments and tyrants with no freedom to express themselves or make life choices. We can be thankful for this great and costly privilege that we enjoy.

Now, this question may surprise you. In this land of the free, Are truly free? True freedom is much more than just living in a free country. In the Bible, the book of John which has recorded the earthly life and teachings of Jesus Christ, quotes him as saying in Chapter 8 and verse 34, “whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.”

Sin captures your mind and Soul and feeds it just enough to keep you under its binds.

So physically you can live in a free country but still be bound to the Sin nature inside you which condemns you to an eternity of Hell.

But Jesus Christ also gives us words of hope and restoration. For He says in that same passage, “and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free”. Further on He says, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

Jesus Christ is the only one who can give us true freedom. A freedom that lasts through eternity and not just as long as we live in a free country.

So, my friend, if you accept the truth that you are a sinner and given to the desires of sin, then Jesus has a path of true freedom prepared for you. You need to accept another truth. The truth that Jesus Christ came to this Earth and took the punishment of your sins, a just punishment that any righteous judge would give for your Sinful life; Death! He was put to death and buried but He rose up after three days to be victorious over Sin and death.

Would you like to enjoy this eternal freedom?

If so, pray to God and accept your sinful nature. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; the one who has taken the punishment of your sins. Ask him to be the Lord of you heart and he will come and dwell in your heart and make you a new person. For the Bible says in another book of 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”
